Last year, we released our inaugural Acadian Ventures Future of Work 100.  Our goal was to highlight the leading venture-backed companies that are reshaping how we work.  The market and the list has changed dramatically since last year.

The Future of Work has now become an existential topic for companies all over the world.  As companies seek to optimize productivity and efficiency, they are turning to a new breed of work technologies that are revolutionizing the way we work. The emergence of artificial intelligence is redefining WorkTech and opens up the market to new market entrants that can innovate faster and deliver significant value versus the incumbent vendors today.

This year's list has some notable changes in both the rankings and the methodology.   Hidden in plain sight is a big reset happening in the market which is manifested in the total number of unicorns (down 38%), overall aggregate valuation of the list (down 36%), and median revenue multiple (down 60%.)   The big reset brings forth a market environment in line with historical means of ARR multiples and closer to comparisons in the public market.

The companies recognized on the 2024 Future of Work 100 have raised a cumulative $30 billion in venture capital financing, with a total valuation over $140 billion.  The top 10 venture-backed companies on the 2024 Future of Work 100 include:

  1. Airtable
  2. Nomi Health
  3. Miro
  4. Deel
  5. Alan
  6. Lyra Health
  7. Rippling
  8. justWorks
  9. Staffbase
  10. Handshake

We are proud to have two portfolio companies in the top 50 – Nomi Health (#2) and Oyster (#40) – and five portfolio companies in total in the 2024 Future of Work 100 list including Degreed (#76), SmartRecruiters (#80), and TechWolf (#99).  More information on the Future of Work 100 can be found at www.futureofwork100.com.
